It’s never too early to start a conversation about money with kids. Starting the education process early on (i.e. budgeting, spending and savings) will establish good money habits for life. N.I.K. accounts are specifically designed for children 12 years or younger.
At account opening, we will provide your child with a NIFCU piggy bank so they can start the saving process right away. Every time your child makes a deposit, they will get to choose a toy from our treasure chest! After your child has filled their piggy bank, bring the coin back to the credit union so we can deposit the funds into their savings account.
Please bring:
- The Social Security card (or number) for the child you are establishing the account for
- Photo ID (i.e. State ID/Driver’s License or Passport) for the adult that will be on the account
- Proof of address (i.e. recent paystub, utility bill, bank statement) will be required if the address of your photo ID is out of date or you are establishing the account with a passport
- $25 opening deposit (cash, check or card)
